What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a non-surgical, smooth gel, dermal filler that is used to instantly smooth away wrinkles around your mouth and nose.

Am I a candidate for Juvederm?

If you are a man or a woman who has concerns about lines and wrinkles or feel you are developing a “hollow look”, because you have lost volume in your face, then, you are an excellent candidate for Juvederm.

How does it work?

Juvederm is placed just under your skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermal layer (the layer beneath the epidermis where the connective tissues are located), which adds volume and diminishes the appearance of the wrinkles.

Where does it work?

Juvederm may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas. It is an ideal choice if you are concerned about lines, wrinkles, creases and folds and is great for filling in depressed acne or surgical scars.
Juvederm will also fill in the sunken areas around your eyes and cheekbones, resulting in a firm, plump, youthful appearance and restored natural contours. You may also use Juvederm to augment thin or aging lips.

What are the most common areas I can have treated with Juvederm?

Smile lines or “parentheses”: Smile lines run vertically from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth. This is the most popular area treated by Juvederm.
Marionette lines: Marionette lines are the vertical facial wrinkles and folds that form below the corners of the mouth. These lines can sometimes give the appearance of sagging and/or a down turned expression.
Vertical lines: Vertical lines are facial lines above and around the lips.

What can I expect during my treatment?

Juvederm, like all dermal fillers, is injected into the area you wish to have treated. If you prefer, the Doctor will numb your skin with a topical anesthetic, however, discomfort is usually minimal. Juvederm is a smooth gel that is easy to administer and the injections are done with an extremely fine needle. Juvederm is also infused with lidocane (a common anesthetic used to improve the comfort of procedures) which makes the treatment even more tolerable.

Why should I choose Juvederm?

  1. With just one treatment you will get smooth, natural looking results. This is the only FDA approved filler that will last up to one year.
  2. Juvederm is smooth and more comfortable. Not all dermal fillers are created equal. Most dermal fillers are made with granular consistency gels, but the unique manufacturing process of Juvederm produces a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and creates a smooth natural look.
  3. It is safe and effective for many different skin types. Juvederm is the first and only dermal filler that has been proven safe for men and women of color. Studies with Juvederm show there is no increased risk of hyperpigmentation (discoloration) or hypertrophic (raised) scars in patients of color.
  4. It can be customized
  5. Juvederm is available in two formulations, which allows the Doctor to customize your treatment to meet your unique needs. Juvederm ultra XC is available for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds. With this dermal filler you will get your own natural collagen back. Juvederm XC plus is a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.

Is Juvederm safe?

Juvederm is generally well tolerated. You may experience minimal recovery or downtime and you will not need to do any testing for allergies before your treatment. Juvederm is not formulated with any allergy-causing, animal derived ingredients.

What should you do after your treatment?

In the hours following the treatment you should avoid making excessive facial expressions. Also avoid excessive heat and sun exposure, and make sure you do not massage the area that has been treated.

When will you notice the results of your treatment?
